Working remotely from Antalya: fibre internet, cafés, coworking and a daily routine

For anyone living in Antalya and working remotely: how to check internet infrastructure, café and coworking options, setting up a home office and what to watch on legal status.

Remote work lets you choose where you live independently of your workplace, and Antalya is one of the cities that comes up most often for that choice. The sea, the mild weather and the walkable districts are appealing; but a dropped connection in the middle of a meeting, a home that is unworkable in summer heat or a café with constant noise can quickly erode daily productivity. In this article we list what people who want to work remotely in Antalya should check before buying or renting.

Start with the internet infrastructure: check by address

Internet is the most critical part of remote work. A listing that says "fibre internet" does not always mean you can get fibre service in that particular flat; some buildings have fibre infrastructure while others are still served over older copper. So before deciding, use the address-based infrastructure query pages on operators' websites. Türk Telekom's site, for example, has an "Internet Infrastructure Query" page, and you will find similar tools at other operators. A query with a flat-level address gives a more reliable result than general neighbourhood information.

A suggested order of checks:

  • Address query: Check the infrastructure status with the building's full address at more than one operator.
  • Talk to building management: There may be permission requirements and management-plan clauses for running cables through shared areas.
  • Watch the contract term: If you will stay only briefly, avoid long-commitment campaigns; if you are a tenant, think about how you will transfer the contract when you move.
  • Set up a backup: Keeping a mobile data line ready as a backup can save a meeting during an outage.

You can find how to transfer a line when you move and what the installation process involves in our guide to internet and fibre subscriptions. For the general moving plan, see our moving checklist.

Home-office setup: summer and winter behave differently

In Antalya, afternoon heat in summer can make working at a computer hard, and in winter damp and rain can make a room uncomfortable. When choosing your work corner, look at these points:

  • A room that gets direct sun all day puts extra load on the air conditioner in summer. Our summer heat guide explains choosing a façade and balcony.
  • In winter, a damp room affects equipment and comfort; our winter guide focuses on this.
  • Noise: flats on a main street, near hotels or in construction zones can make video calls difficult. Visit the home at different times of day and check the sound level.
  • Ergonomics: a proper desk, a suitable chair and a second screen are the investments that pay off most over time.

Café and coworking options

For those who want to leave the house to work, two options stand out: cafés and coworking spaces. Cafés are flexible and often pleasant, but power sockets, Wi-Fi quality and whether sitting for a long time is accepted all vary by venue. So it is wiser to use cafés mainly for email and writing and to take meetings somewhere quiet.

Coworking spaces may offer fixed desks, meeting rooms and high-speed connections. On directory sites, only a limited number of spaces are listed for Antalya, and some offer day or weekly use; prices vary, so we do not quote amounts. Before going, ask the venue directly about opening hours, day-pass options and internet speed.

Daily routine: working with the rhythm of the city

The pleasure of working remotely in Antalya comes from planning your day flexibly. Many people try this pattern: focused work in the cool of the morning, meetings in a closed, cool space during midday heat, a walk in the late afternoon. Choosing a neighbourhood according to your walking and transport habits also affects productivity: our car-free living guide and 15-minute city article describe a setup where daily needs are within walking distance. For those who want to live by the sea, the Konyaaltı and Lara and Muratpaşa guides cover the areas separately.

There is also the cost side: working out fixed items such as rent, service charges, internet and transport up front protects you against income fluctuations while working remotely. You can find these items category by category in Cost of living in Antalya.

A note for foreigners: residence and work are separate matters

If you move to Türkiye as a foreign national and will work remotely, a residence permit and a work permit are separate concepts. On the Directorate of Migration Management's short-term residence permit page, the permit purposes include headings such as tourism and owning real estate in Türkiye; the application asks for documents such as valid health insurance, proof of where you will stay and a declaration of sufficient financial means. A work permit, on the other hand, is a separate document issued under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Confirm which category remote work falls into in your own case only with the Directorate of Migration Management and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, and if needed a lawyer; we do not give a definitive ruling on this.

What changes in a buying or renting decision?

For someone who works remotely, choosing a home is not only about the number of rooms: a quiet work corner, a reliable internet line, a façade that stays cool and transport all count. Rank these according to your own priorities, then move on to the steps on our page about buying a home in Antalya. The installment homes page adds information on flexible payment plans.

From the same series: other articles in our Antalya living guide may also help: airport transport, retiring in Antalya and cycling and walking routes.

Conclusion

Working remotely from Antalya is possible; the keys are verifying internet infrastructure by address, setting up the home office for the climate, using cafés and coworking as a strong backup and clarifying legal status with the competent authorities.
